Minimizing Property Damage

There are many ways out there to help control these situations. Most ways however are ineffective or costly. One way to keep Whitetail deer off of your property is by using high wire mesh fences. While this method does work, it is very costly to do, especially for larger properties. Another way is to plant undesirable plants that have a bitter or spicy taste, milky sap , thorny, hairy and plants with tough leaves . However this will only stop them from eating the undesirable plants.

Another way is a scare type device such as gas exploders, strobe lights , sirens, radio and sprinklers. These methods are often annoying to you and your neighbors and most of the time are only short term solutions. You can use repellents, but they usually come with high cost, limitations of use and variable effectiveness. With repellents, Whitetail deer often learn ways around them over time.

Controlling Population

Birth control can be affective, but must be used in tranquilizer guns and be administered to every doe. Cost and how to obtain equipment ect. could not be found on the internet. This way may or may not be available to small land owners.



One of the best ways is to reduce the Whitetail deer population by hunting. This is the best way to help your land and wildlife looking great, without putting up fences or using repellents and is the least costly of ways. This can be achieved with only taking a few does from your property. For every one doe harvested, you stopped that doe and up to two more fawns that would have been there the following year.
